My Research Topics
I am now working in the Department of Big data science, College of Informatics, HZAU; and also Agricultural Bioinformatics Key Laboratory of Hubei Province, led by biochemical scientist Prof. Hong-Yu Zhang. I am also member of BIOMED-SIG under ACL.
My current work consists of two parts:
My current work consists of two parts:
Part 1: Biomedical natural language process (BioNLP). click for more basic knowledge The first one is an cross-disciplinary work combining computational linguistic/NLP, biology, computer science, and math algorithms. This work started from 2012 when I visited Dialogue System Group in City University of HongKong, led by Prof. Alex Chengyu Fang. Prof. Fang is an excellent computational linguist who helps me a lot on this project. One of my important work in this field is the enhancement of TEES event extraction system, and this work was with help by Dr. Maggie Xing Zhang and students Mr. Liang Yang, Mr. Zehao Zhang, and Mr. Bin Luo. In 2015, this research benefited a lot from Colorado visit and Kevin helped a lot. In recent years, I formed a group by having regular seminar in HZAU, and Xuan Qin, Kaiyin Zhou, Yuxing Wang, and Mina Gachloo joined the team subsequently. There are roughly 10 undergraduates studying in the group normally. Experts including Alex, Kevin, Larry, Pierre, Daniela, and Jin-Dong also paid visit to us and gave awesome instructions. The current main projects include:

Kaiyin et al., BioNLP 2018
Kaiyin et al., CCL 2018

Part 2:
Phenome related statistic analysis and bioinformatics; The second one is supported with system bio-knowledge by Prof. Hong-Yu Zhang, and we co-worked deeply with researchers in the key lab. The students ever worked in these topics include Yemao Liu, Yaping Lu, Zhimin Xie, Wei Wu, Zejia Cui, Hui Wang etc. Prof. Feng Shi offered lots of guidance in the early years, while my colleagues, e.g., Dr. Qiang Zhu, Dr. Xuehai Hu and Dr. Xiaohui, Niu are key supporters in the field of mathematics and algorithms. For discussion of biological background knowledge, I would like to thank all of the members in seminar group of Prof. Zhang. |
Yaping et al., the Frontier in PS 2015

(My previous work covered the field of
Artificial intelligence (like IDS system),
Sequence-based approach for function prediction,
Information security (like key agreement scheme ),
etc.
I would like to express gratitude to all of the the co-researchers and students, especially mathematician Prof. Feng Shi, who led me into the filed of Bioinformatics years ago and keep giving brilliant suggestions. All of their names have been listed in the author list in publications)
